Charlie Hall Band Tours With Aviom

The Charlie Hall Band, based in Oklahoma, is a 5-piece band consisting of Charlie Hall on guitar and vocals, Brian Bergman, keyboards, Quint Anderson on bass, Kendall Combes, guitar, and Dustin Ragland on drums. They tour the US and internationally, and have had an Aviom monitoring system with them since 2005.

According to Dustin Ragland, the band's drummer, "We have been using Aviom for powering our travel and home rehearsal monitors since August of 2005. I still remember pulling it out of the box at an arena in Norman, OK — we were sleep deprived from getting home that previous evening from Indonesia — so I was very surprised to be able to literally unpack the system from the boxes and set it up to be used that evening in front of 5,000 folks-sight unseen. It was simple, yet a major improvement on audio quality from our wireless system we previously had."

Traveling with band and PA gear is always a challenge — compactness is an important factor. Drummer Ragland adds, "Its compactness has been a major plus; we previously traveled with a digital mixer, large splitter, and I was in charge of each mix. It was extra cases to fly with, and extra pieces to break in transit. The AN-16/i-M fixes this because it has everything in one place, and is flexible enough to travel everywhere with us, fitting into the myriad sound systems we have to fit into, since we rarely travel with our own, and we fly so often."

The band's gear includes an A-16D Pro A-Net Distributor and A-16II Personal Mixers. "The individual mixers are a gift to me, to where each member can adjust, even according to song, the elements they need to hear," comments Ragland.
