{"id":889,"date":"2013-08-07T16:44:56","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T20:44:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aviom.com\/aviomblog\/?p=889"},"modified":"2013-10-29T08:38:11","modified_gmt":"2013-10-29T12:38:11","slug":"pro64-tours-with-one-night-with-janis-joplin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviom.com\/blog\/pro64-tours-with-one-night-with-janis-joplin\/","title":{"rendered":"Pro64 Tours with One Night With Janis Joplin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second summer tour of Randy Johnson\u2019s <i>One Night with Janis Joplin <\/i>is currently running at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arenastage.org\/shows-tickets\/the-season\/productions\/one-night-with-janis-joplin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater<\/a> in Washington, DC, and it is now destined for Broadway this September. This summer\u2019s tour featured an Aviom Pro64\u00a0digital snake as the audio backbone between the stage and the front-of-house Yamaha\u00ae M7CL-48 console. Sound Designer for the show, Carl Casella of Sound Associates, chose Aviom to distribute the audio because a common element between the show\u2019s stops\u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pasadenaplayhouse.org\/box-office\/mainstage\/one-night-with-janis-joplin.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Pasadena Playhouse<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.milwaukeerep.com\/season\/janis.html\" target=\"_blank\">Milwaukee Repertory Theater<\/a> before coming to the Arena Stage\u2014was the Yamaha console.<\/p>\n<p>Casella had used the Pro64 digital snake with a Yamaha console before on a tour of <i>The Jersey Boys<\/i> and says, \u201cIt is really convenient, and I like the way it sounds.\u201d He chose the Pro64 digital snake for <i>One Night with Janis Joplin<\/i> because it was easily transferable from one theater to another. According the Casella, \u201cThe system has been flawless. When it works flawlessly, we just don\u2019t have to think about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The system for <i>One Night with Janis Joplin<\/i> consists of two 6416Y2 A-Net Cards in the Yamaha M7CL-48 and two 6416m Mic Input Modules on stage along with two 6416o Output Modules for returns. Replicating this setup at each theater was simple, so there was no need for Casella to recreate the technical design for the show in each city. Each theater already had a Yamaha console, and the Pro64 digital snake allowed them to customize the stage setup in the ways that they wanted and needed.<\/p>\n<p>For a show that celebrates such an important rock legend, exceptional sound is essential. Casella explains, \u201cNo digital snake is truly neutral; all of them color the sound in some way.
